What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

People need to eat, have medical care and a safe place to live. Protection of our natural resources, with focus on our waterways, and ground water.P

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Personal integrity, operating on values, ability to work with others of differing views

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

To represent the people in my district, and spend the peoples money wisely.

What legacy would you like to leave?

I tried; I tried to control spending; I tried to make Maine a better place.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

JFK's funeral on TV, I was 8 years old.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

In a bakery. 2 years while in High School.

What is your favorite holiday? Why?

Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is about food, family (both blood and chosen), fellowship around a table.

What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?

My husband.

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

my weight

Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?

No, sometimes with the more experience with the way things are done stops the development of new approaches.

What do you perceive to be your state’s greatest challenges over the next decade?

An aging population and more people of fixed incomes.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature?

Respectful, both of the people, ideas, and process.

Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.

Yes, we need to be able to discuss issues, listen to the point of understanding "the other side", and work together.

If you are not a current legislator, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

Judiciary, Veterans and Legal Affairs, Health and Human Services, Natural Resources

Is there a particular legislator, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

None, I'm my own person. I did like the way Bob Duchesne (current seat holder) did with emailing people in the district to ask opinions and input on some decisions. I would continue that practice.
