Christopher Counihan
Christopher Counihan ran in the 2012 election for Delaware State Senate District 5. Counihan was a 2010 Democratic candidate for District 5 of the Delaware State Senate. The primary election was on September 14, 2010, and the general election was on November 2, 2010.
Biography
Counihan's professional experience includes working as an adjunct professor at West Chester University. He has also worked as an adjutant professor at the University of Delaware. Prior to that, he was North American Sales and Operations Manager for Allianz Worldwide Care, Ltd from 2000 to 2001, Senior Underwriter for CIGNA International Employee Benefits from 1997 to 2000, and Product Underwriter for American International Group from 1994 to1997.
Counihan earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in political science and international relations from the University of Delaware. He also earned his M.A. in international affairs from Drew University and B.A. in international relations from St. Joseph's University.[1]

Counihan ran in the 2012 election for Delaware State Senate District 5. Counihan ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on September 11, 2012 and was defeated by incumbent Catherine Cloutier in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
2010

Counihan was uncontested in the September 14 primary. He lost to incumbent Republican Catherine Cloutier in the November 2 general election.[4]

On his campaign website, Counihan states, "I will be focusing on three main issues during this campaign: job creation and economic development, fiscal responsibility, and continued improvement of our educational system."[5]
