An effort to recall Vice Mayor Shawn Mulchay and City Councilmember Susan Santangelo in Camarillo, California did not make it to the ballot.[1] Organizers did not submit the required number of signatures by the deadline of April 15, 2021.[2]
Organizers initiated the recall effort in response to Mulchay and Santangelo's alleged support for defunding the Camarillo City Police Department. Mulchay and Santangelo denied that they supported cutting the department's funding and noted that they had voted to increase the department's budget in 2020.[1]
