R. Clarke VanDervort was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. He was appointed to this position on December 20, 2002, and retired from the bench on December 31, 2015.[1][2]

Biography and Education

Judge VanDervort received his A.B. degree from Ohio University and his J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law. He served for four years in the U.S. Marines, including 13 months of service in Vietnam.[3]

Career

Judge VanDervort began his career as a private practice lawyer. He worked in this capacity for 15 years before becoming a federal magistrate judge.[3]
