Hunt's website highlighted the following campaign themes:
| “ | People
Everyday Kansans like you and I aren’t being represented in Topeka. As your representative, I will look out for the interests of all of the people of Olathe’s 49th district. Fair Taxation The current tax plan places more of the burden on ordinary Kansans, while creating loopholes and more tax breaks for corporations. We need a tax plan that is fair, balanced and progressive – one that’s for the people of Kansas and not corporate interests only. Education Thanks to the current administration, our schools are no longer being fully funded. Class sizes are larger and programs are being cut. It’s imperative that we fund our schools adequately to guarantee a prosperous future for Kansas. Kansas will remain competitive by maintaining a well-educated workforce that attracts business and industry. Economic Opportunity Kansas is currently lagging behind most of the nation in job growth. Job creation is the best prescription for a sick economy. We must offer targeted incentives to businesses in exchange for job creation. This will attract new business and industry to Kansas and help grow the economy. Medicaid Expansion Our state has already paid for Medicaid expansion, but our Governor and the Legislature have refused it. This denies health care to some 126,000 Kansans and cost us jobs, too. Our tax dollars are being used to expand the Medicaid programs in other states. We must use Kansas tax dollars to help our fellow Kansans. Healthy Kansans means a healthy Kansas.[7][8] |
