An effort to recall District 3 Councilman Don “Bubba” Williams did not go to a vote in Bossier City, Louisiana.[1][2]
Recall organizers alleged that Williams had obstructed the agenda of Mayor Tommy Chandler. Williams had not commented on the recall campaign as of August 12, 2021.[2][1]
Recall supporters
Bossier City residents, including Shane Cheatham and Jeff Koeppen, organized the recall campaign. They alleged that Williams had obstructed the agenda of Mayor Tommy Chandler by blocking Chandler's nomination of Cheatham as Chief Administrative Officer. Williams had said previously that Cheatham wasn't qualified for the role.[2][3]
Koeppen explained the motivation for the recall campaign in more detail.[2]

Starting this morning, there will be several volunteers knocking on doors with a recall petition. Just want to give everybody a heads up on what is happening, and why it is happening. Back in March, Mayor Chandler was elected into office by a wide margin. Especially in South Bossier. Ever since taking office, he has been obstructed by the city council. They are doing everything they can to make sure he fails. This is not good for Bossier City. Mayor Chandler loves Bossier City, and wants what is best for all of us. Him and Shane Cheatham, who he wants as his CAO (but is being blocked from even having a vote by councilmembers) made several trips to Baton Rouge to lobby the Governor and Legislators, before he took office, and at his own expense, to get a new Jimmie Davis Bridge. They were successful, and we will have a new bridge in the next few years. We ask that you sign the petition to recall District 3 Councilman Don ‘Bubba’ Williams. It is time we the people make our voices heard for a Better Bossier City.[4] |
