The Education Committee was a standing committee of the Florida State Senate. The Education Committee resulted from the merging of the Education Pre-K - 12 Committee and the Higher Education Committee during the 2013-2014 session. In the 2015 session, these committees were split again.

Function

In 2014, the Florida State Senate described the function of this committee as outlined below.

The Education Committee examines legislation in the following subject areas:
  • Early learning (i.e., school readiness and voluntary prekindergarten), K-12 schools (e.g., elementary, middle, high), Higher/Post secondary education, Blind services and Vocational rehabilitation services.[1][2]
