Ed grew up in Battle Mountain, Nevada. After high school, he joined the Army National Guard, transferring to active duty a year later in the U.S. Coast Guard where he was first a mechanic and then a public information officer and military journalist.

Ed received a bachelor’s degree while on active duty and left the military to pursue public relations in the high-tech industry for several years in the Bay Area. During the dotcom bust, Edwin returned home to Nevada to serve as a law enforcement public information officer at the Nevada Department of Wildlife in Reno.

In 2017, Edwin left NDOW to pursue writing and teaching full time, penning a biweekly column for the Reno Gazette Journal and occasional essays for national outlets like CNN while teaching English at Truckee Meadows Community College. During this time Ed took up yoga to improve his health and went on to earn his 200-hour teaching certificate in 2020. With his knowledge of Reno and the business community, Edwin opened a yoga studio in Northwest Reno last year, and it has become a thriving small business.

Ed is married and together they have a blended family of five children and two pugs.
  • Defend western values of freedom and choice.
  • Invest in communities and quality of life.
  • Create opportunities for the next generation.
Affordable Housing - It’s not enough to build affordable housing, we need to make housing affordable, lower costs to entry and bring housing advocates and neighbors together.

Public safety - We need an agreement to improve fire and medical services between the county and city.

Homelessness - There is no one cause, nor cure, for homelessness. We have chronic homelessness and people who find themselves temporarily displaced. We can do better with an all-of-the-above strategy.

Elections - Stand up to election denialism and respect the rule of law. We must protect democracy.

Traffic and Infrastructure - We need to prioritize infrastructure developments, instead of waiting until traffic becomes a problem. The county has many new roads and solutions planned.
