Two seats on the Elmore County Public Schools school board were up for general election on November 4, 2014. Incumbents Dale Bain (R) and Kitty Graham (R) both won re-election unopposed in District 1 and 6, respectively.

Elmore County Public Schools is located in Elmore County, Alabama. The county seat of Elmore County is Wetumpka. Elmore County is home to 80,902 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[1] In the 2011-2012 school year, Elmore County Public Schools was the tenth-largest school district in Alabama and served 11,230 students.[2]

Demographics

Elmore County underperformed in comparison to the rest of Alabama in terms of higher education achievement in 2013. The United States Census Bureau found that 21.1 percent of Elmore County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 22.3 percent for Alabama as a whole. The median household income in Elmore County was $55,514 compared to $43,160 for the state of Alabama. The poverty rate in Elmore County was 13.0 percent compared to 18.1 percent for the entire state.[1]

The Elmore school board consists of seven members elected to six-year terms by geographic electoral districts. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on November 4, 2014. Two seats were on the ballot in 2014.[4]
