Erik B. Wallin
Erik B. Wallin (born 1970) is a former state prosecutor. On November 5, 2009, he announced his candidacy for the statewide office of attorney general, the seat vacated by Patrick Lynch, who was barred by state term limit laws from running for a third consecutive term in office.[1] Nearly a full year later, however, Wallin lost in the general election on Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010 to Democratic challenger Peter Kilmartin after receiving twenty-nine percent of the vote.[2]

Professional experience
Upon being admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Wallin accepted a commission to the United States Air Force (USAF) as a First Lieutenant. He graduated from Air University's Judge Advocate Staff Officer School and was immediately promoted to the rank of Captain. Following graduation, he served as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) located in Dayton, Ohio. It was also at this point in time that Wallin was named as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio. Back at WPAFB, Wallin was selected as the Area Defense Counsel, a role that carried the responsibilities of managing the Air Force Legal Services Agency location, supervising and training defense paralegals, and furnishing legal defense services to the more than 6,000 Air Force members assigned to WPAFB. He was eventually sent to Washington D.C. where he served on USAF Eastern Circuit as a Circuit Defense Counsel (CDC), based at Bolling AFB, before being honorably discharged in 2002.
Political career
After being admitted to the Bar of Rhode Island, Wallin was named as a Special Assistant to State Attorney General Patrick Lynch in 2003, where he remained for the next five years. During his tenure, he handled prosecuting bail hearings involving robbery, sexual assaults and narcotics distribution cases for the District Court Unit and breathalyzer refusal hearings at the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal. For a time, Wallin was solely responsible for all legals matters involving the Fourth Division District Court in Washington County. Following his resignation in July 2008, he opened his own private practice law firm based in Wakefield that focused primarily on criminal justice.

On November 2, 2010, Peter F. Kilmartin won election to the office of Rhode Island Attorney General. He defeated Erik B. Wallin (R), Christopher H. Little (MOD), Keven A. McKenna (I) and Robert E. Rainville (I) in the general election.
