As a mother of five in Beaverton schools (Westview, Five Oaks, Arco Iris), I understand firsthand how vital strong schools and community collaboration are for our kids to thrive.

With a Master’s in Public Administration and a passion for the arts as a violinist, I bring both practical experience and creative perspective.

I’ve served 5 years on the board at Arco Iris Spanish Immersion School, currently as Chair of Development & Community Relations—leading efforts to strengthen school-community ties and financial sustainability.
  • Students First: I am committed to making students the top priority in all policy and budget decisions. Every child deserves an environment where they can thrive academically and socially. By focusing on what’s best for students, we can ensure they have the resources, support, and opportunities to succeed. My goal is to advocate for policies that directly benefit our children and their future.
  • Trust and Collaboration: I believe in the power of collaboration between schools, families, and the community. With open communication and collaboration, we can create a supportive environment for every student’s growth. I will work to ensure that all voices are heard and that we build trust through transparency, teamwork, and shared goals. Together, we can create an education system that works and shows real results in student success.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: I am committed to the wise use of taxpayer dollars, ensuring that every dollar spent in the Beaverton School District is used efficiently and effectively. I will work to align the district’s budget with our values and the needs of our community, while also ensuring our spending results in measurable student success. By promoting accountability and transparency in all financial decisions, we can prioritize funding that directly benefits students and improves our schools.
I believe in advocating for K-12 funding to ensure quality education, and balanced accountability measures to track progress. I support proven, data-driven curriculums that foster academic success for all students. Support for special education is important to me, as well as early childhood education and a safe learning environment.
Love Your Enemies: How Decent People Can Save America from the Culture of Contempt, by Arthur C Brooks
I believe integrity, compassion, work-ethic, communication, listening, adapting, and transparency are some of the most important characteristics or principles for an elected official.
Board members establish, implement, and advocate for educational policy and priorities. They Collaborate and communicate with staff, community, and employee groups–-being transparent and responsive. Board members employ, evaluate, and support the superintendent and wisely use taxpayer dollars as they approve the annual budget.
I cleaned houses during all four years of high school.
I would not only make myself available to those who would like to share their experiences with me, but I would also proactively seek out opportunities to connect with and understand the diverse needs within our school district. I would like to see more opportunities to listen and learn through community sessions, school visits, and being involved in district activities. While it’s important for a board member to understand the limitations of the role and responsibilities, it’s also a board member’s job to learn about and understand the needs in the district to be able to make well-informed decisions regarding budget, policy, and strategic planning.
As a school board member, I will build relationships in every capacity that I can. Community relationships are something I am very passionate about, and as I have been running my campaign for this election, connecting with others has been my favorite part. If in office, I will seek to build relationships with all members of the broader community. I will specifically reach out to those who I feel like do not have a voice at the table.
Students can learn first and foremost when their basic needs are met. This means ensuring our students have full tummies and essential clothing to wear. Some students experience houselessness and we can work to connect them with programs in our community to provide essential support.

Beyond basic needs, our students will best be able to thrive in their learning in a safe, secure, and supportive environment. This means helping to identify students who would benefit from extra support and also providing advanced learning opportunities for students who thrive with more rigorous educational options.
The state of Oregon stayed closed longer than other states throughout the country, and we are still trying to recover learning losses from this time. We are still seeing higher rates of absenteeism since the pandemic compared to before, and our most vulnerable students suffered the most learning losses. If faced with something similar in the future, I would look to experts in the medical field to see what is being recommended and get our kids back in the classrooms as soon as we are safely able to do so.
Parents are the first and most important educators for the students in our district. As schools partner with parents, student outcomes improve. Parents appreciate transparency and communication. I will listen to parents and work to establish trust and transparency through policy and programs that seek input from them, involve them, partner with them, support them, and keep them informed.
With my fellow board members, faculty, staff, administration, and the community, I would seek to create a vision for our school district which would help us become an employer of choice for the best and most capable teachers in the country.

Board members also hire and evaluate the superintendent. I will regularly communicate with and work to support the superintendent to better support our faculty, staff and administration so they will want to come and stay and grow personally and professionally to achieve our vision as a district.
I am committed to the wise use of taxpayer resources, ensuring that every dollar spent in the Beaverton School District is used efficiently and effectively. I will work to align the district’s budget with our values and the needs of our community, while also ensuring our spending results in measurable student success. By promoting accountability and transparency in all financial decisions, we can prioritize funding that directly benefits students and improves our schools.
