I have always had a passion to make a difference in my community. I work in telecommunications external affairs and live on the westside of Albuquerque. I have devoted my life to giving back and being helpful to others. By learning about particular issues and working collaboratively with others, I have grown into a strong leader and fierce advocate. I currently serve on the following boards: One Albuquerque Fund, New Mexico Chamber, National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation, Central New Mexico Community College Foundation, Junior Achievement of New Mexico, New Mexico Technology Council, Camp Enchantment of NM, and an Honorary Kirtland Air Force Commander. Through these and other work experiences, I am a better leader and advocate for others and want to do the same as your County Commissioner.
  • There are many priorities in District 1, but the most prominent is crime and behavioral health. On crime, I will work with the County Sheriff’s Department to help fill gaps across jurisdictional lines in patrolling/assisting APD. We must hold criminal defendants accountable, prioritize prosecuting violent criminals, and ensure swift & certain justice for crime victims.
  • Drug addiction and mental health are intertwined with crime and contribute to homelessness in our community. We need to pull our resources together and grow our evidenced based programs throughout the county. I will work to expedite the creation of a crisis triage center and assign social workers to help patients with wrap-around services that focus on basic needs first. These complex issues will take time and hard work, but I am determined to make major progress to keep our communities safe.
  • I will always listen to the community and be a voice for District 1. The District 1 Commission has not done a town hall on the west side in over a decade. We can’t have more of the same. I am committed to meet with constituents formally and informally, listen to their concerns and be a voice for the people of District 1 to the best of my ability.
One thing I have promised is to do my research and make sure to have a good relationships with experts in the County to become as knowledgeable as possible to combat changing climate conditions within Bernalillo County. As a Commissioner, I will be an advocate for the Bernalillo County Greenprint Plan protecting land for all of us and ensuring healthy, livable communities for generations to come. I plan to represent my community and work with the water authority board towards ways to conserve and recycle water in new and innovative ways that focus on new technologies and conservation. I will create more events to promote how constituents can utilize any rebate programs, incentives, and services to be more environmentally friendly. There are many free energy efficiency resources available to the community, but many programs are not widely known.

We need real solutions, not flashy ideas. I will have a comprehensive plan working with a street team of social workers to directly work with homeless individuals. A large majority of our homeless population is addicted to drugs or have a mental health issue. Their main issue needs to be addressed while being housed and working with a social worker. There are too many programs with restrictions, and they are not addressing the real root problems.
My late father who passed from brain cancer always taught me to put others first, so I live everyday trying to help others. In life I have learned that if you want something enough then you have to strive for it and always have
ambition. There is a quote by Abraham Lincoln my father would always tell me that I live my life by and it helps me to do more each day: "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." This quote encourages me everyday to strive for more while helping others.
Making a difference in the lives of others that creates ripple effects throughout my community
I created my first job as an animal sitter. I did that all through high school while also working two jobs as a Youth Advocate in northern New Mexico at Las Clinicas Del Norte working with youth on their issues related to personal mental health issues and school issues. I also worked at Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs restaurant bussing tables on weekend shifts. I also made time to volunteer all through high school, creating a youth center in the community with the help of attaining a Ronald McDonald grant, and very involved in school activities in sports, student activities, and the school/class President.
