Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Griego's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Federal Budget/Debt: With our national debt now over $19 trillion dollars, we can no longer abide excuses and fear tactics over balancing the budget and ending the insanity of amassing our enormous debt.
  • Pro-Life: The second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence is clear about our unalienable rights and where these rights originate. It mentions Life as a right. Life is a continuous event from conception to death, and must be protected at all stages.
  • 2nd Amendment: The purpose of the Bill of Rights is to prohibit federal interference with personal liberties and freedoms. The primary purpose of the 2nd Amendment is to protect us against a tyrannical government. The “right of the people to keep and bear Arms” is our God-given right. Any infringement of that right, no matter how benign it may seem, is unconstitutional, and therefore unlawful.
  • Immigration: I fully support legal and lawful immigration and will not accept another amnesty. The terms of the last amnesty deal required securing the border and enforcing the law. That has not happened and we are suffering the consequences of that failure. Repeating that mistake is unacceptable. The border must be secured immediately.
  • Civil Liberties/Domestic Spying: Every American has a right to privacy. The Domestic Spying NSA and other agencies have been engaged in is a clear violation of the 4th Amendment. If government has a probable cause that an individual is a criminal or suspected terrorist, then it must go to a judge and obtain a warrant as specified in the 4th Amendment.
