What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
1. Ensuring that our students have the best educational opportunities. 2. Fiscal Responsibility 3. Empowering our children to be the best that they can be.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am very passionate about dual enrollment opportunities for children. Dual enrollment provides students opportunities to earn college credit during their high school years. This is important because it allows students to learn college level structure and provides the student an opportunity to earn a college degree while earning a high school degree simultaneously.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
The principles that are most important for an elected official is honesty, integrity, and a good attitude toward everything you do.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
The qualities that I possess that would make me a successful office holder are that I am very transparent, do everything to the best of my ability, and enjoy helping others.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
The core responsibilities for someone elected to office should be transparent, truthful, and ensure that what you do will benefit your constituents.
What legacy would you like to leave?
The legacy that I would like to leave is doing everything in my power that will aid future generations be the best that they can be by providing students access to the best educational opportunities.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
My first job was at the age of 15 years old working at K-Mart in multiple positions. I began my job at K-Mart as a parking lot attendant gathering store shopping carts. I later moved on to stocking merchandise on the floor, and finally as a cashier. This job helped me understand financial responsibility and helped me understand the importance of teamwork.
What is your favorite holiday? Why?
My favorite holiday is Christmas. Everyone loves Christmas. It is the time of year when most families spend time together celebrating the birth of our savior Jesus and sharing events that have happened throughout the year. Not to mention all the food we all consume during this holiday. We cannot forget the exchange of gifts and just all around fun.
What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?
My favorite thing in my home is my man cave. I was able to convince my wife that i needed a place to gather my thoughts and gain inspiration for upcoming projects and it worked. I enjoy my time in my office doing research and reading books.
What is the primary job of a school board member in your view?
The primary job of a school board member is to have the student's best interest at heart. It is important to provide the students multiple opportunities and the right tools for them to be able to increase their education.
How would you support the diverse needs of your district’s students, faculty, staff, and community?
I would work together with student, parents, faculty, and board members to empower our children. It is not enough to just attend school board meetings once a month. It is crucial for school board member to be active in their community receiving feedback from students, parents, and the community.
How will you build relationships with members of the broader community? Which groups, organizations, stakeholders will you specifically target?
I will work with everyone who is willing to help meet our educational goals and who also have the best interest of our children at heart.
What will you do to build a better relationship with parents in the district? What plans do you have to be inclusive of parental involvement?
I will work together with parents and listen to the needs they have and will welcome feedback from them as to how we can together promote our children.
What type of skills should students be learning for success in the 21st century?
Students should be able to receive quality education in computer literacy and oral skills so that they can be competitive in their educational careers as well as the workforce. School districts should keep up with advances in technology and teach students accordingly.
How might you improve the value of a high school diploma? What should a 21st century diploma reflect?
A 21st Century high school diploma should reflect the hard work a student has put in and also the hard work the school district has conducted to provide the student the necessary educational foundation to be successful.
What strategies or plans would you advance to ensure the schools are properly funded?
Communication is key. School Administrator, superintendents, and school board trustees should have an open door policy and should communicate frequently to ensure that all their needs are being met.
What principles drive your policies for safety in schools?
Having 2 children currently in the school district and 1 child that will attend in the near future school security is extremely important to me. I will work together with our local police departments and our security team to make safety and security a top priority.
How might you support the mental health needs of students/faculty/staff?
Mental Health for both our students and faculty is very important. I will work along with school counselors and the Texas Education Agency to ensure that our students and faculty have the necessary mental health resources and continuing training.
What role do you imagine technology playing in (and outside) the classroom in the future? How would you prepare the district for this?
Technology plays a pivotal role inside and outside schools. School districts must continue to keep up with advancements in technology to provide a better quality education.
