Ida Ross-Freeman was an at-large member of the Canton City Schools Board of Education. She was first elected in 2012. Freeman sought another term in the general election on November 3, 2015.[1] Ida Ross-Freeman lost the general election on November 3, 2015.

Ross-Freeman is the executive director and founder of the Stark County Urban Minority Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Outreach Project. She in a member of the Canton Joint Recreation Board, the local Juneteenth Celebration Committee. She volunteers with the Regional AIDS group, the state of Ohio Community Planning AIDS group, the Reentry Coalition, the Housing Coalition, and the Foster Parent Coalition.[2][3]

Opposition

Three of the five seats on the Canton City Schools Board of Education were up for election on November 3, 2015. One of the seats represented District 2, and two seats represented the district at-large.

Incumbent Will Grimsley ran unopposed and won re-election for the District 2 seat. Corey Smith and Eric Resnick defeated incumbent Ida Ross-Freeman, Deloris Angeli and Cody Horner for the two at-large seats that were up for election. At-large incumbent Lisa Gissendaner did not run for re-election.[4][5][6]
