Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Jason Rogers answered the following:

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

The willingness to listen to the constituents, and the motivation to serve them.[4]
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
Having served in the Army for four years and having served as a teacher for twelve years, I believe in leading a life of service to others.[4]
What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?
Texas needs to improve its schools and shift the power of educational mandates from the legislature to the Independent School Districts.[4]
