Jonathan C. Thacher is a former circuit court judge for the 19th Circuit in Fairfax County, Virginia.[1][2] He served as a judge from May 28, 1998 until his retirement from the court at the end of 2013.[3][4]

Education

Thacher received his undergraduate degree from the University of Miami in 1970 and his J.D. from George Mason University in 1980.[3]

Career

Prior to his appointment to the circuit court, Thacher was a judge on the General District Court from 1994 to 1998. He has also previously practiced law with the firm of Thacher, Swiger and Cay. Before his legal career, Thacher served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1975 and attained the rank of captain. He has also served as a special agent in the Army Criminal Investigation Division and as a civilian special agent with Naval Investigative Service.[3]
