I am currently employed at a law firm, focusing on commercial litigation. Prior to this, I spent over a decade as a District Director in the Texas House of Representatives. In that role, I worked closely with educators in HD75 to help shape legislation and address their concerns during legislative sessions. Additionally, I served as the Constituent Services Coordinator, where I directly assisted the public in resolving issues with state government. I am also a volunteer coach with the SISD VSP Program where I coach soccer and track. I also am the founder of Abrigando Fronteras which works with abused and neglected children in Ciudad Juarez.
  • Fiscal Responsibility – Addressing the district’s budget challenges is crucial. I would focus on maintaining financial stability, ensuring that we prioritize spending in a way that avoids deficits while still meeting the needs of our students and staff.
  • Supporting Teachers and Employees – I believe that our teachers and staff are the foundation of student success. I would work to ensure that they have the resources, professional development, and support they need to thrive in their roles.
  • Strengthening Community Engagement – I would work to foster stronger relationships between the district and our community, making sure that parents, teachers, and students have a voice in the decisions that impact their education. Collaboration and transparency are key to making sure we all work together toward the success of our students
I want to contribute to creating policies that promote academic excellence, financial accountability, and inclusivity. I am passionate about ensuring that all voices are heard, and I’m dedicated to working collaboratively with the board, district leadership, and our community to make Socorro ISD a place where students can thrive and grow into responsible, engaged citizens.
The Women's Hour by Elaine Weiss is a great book because it tells the story of the fight for women's right to vote in the U.S. in an interesting way. The author shows how hard women worked and how much they had to overcome to win the 19th Amendment. It mixes history with real stories about the women who led the movement, making it both educational and easy to read. It's a reminder of how strong and determined women were to get the rights they deserve.
Integrity and Transparency: A school board member must be honest, ethical, and open in their actions and decisions. They should prioritize transparency in decision-making processes and ensure the community remains informed about board activities and policies.

Commitment to Students: The ultimate goal of any school board member is to support the success and well-being of students. They must be dedicated to ensuring that every student has access to high-quality education, including addressing academic, emotional, and social needs.

Collaboration and Teamwork: School board members need to work well with fellow board members, the superintendent, teachers, parents, and the community. Effective collaboration ensures that the voices of all stakeholders are heard and respected in decision-making processes.
Advocating for Students: The primary responsibility is to ensure that all students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for success in life, regardless of their background or circumstances. This involves making decisions that prioritize student learning, well-being, and equitable opportunities.

Fiscal Oversight: School board members are responsible for overseeing the district’s budget, ensuring that funds are allocated effectively to support educational programs, staff, and resources while maintaining fiscal responsibility to the community.

Policy Making: School board members are tasked with creating, reviewing, and revising policies that govern the district. These policies impact everything from curriculum and school safety to teacher evaluations and student discipline.
My first job was at McDonalds near Montwood High School. I worked there for over a year while attending high school.
The role of an SISD Board Trustee is to help ensure that schools are accountable, promote student success, and support educational equity. They also have a duty to collaborate with educators, parents, and the local community to create an environment where all students can thrive.
When the school boards operate transparently, they foster accountability—ensuring that public funds are being directed toward improving educational outcomes, supporting teachers, and providing necessary resources for students. Furthermore, transparency helps prevent waste and mismanagement by allowing for greater scrutiny and feedback from the community.
