I am running for State Assembly because I deeply believe we all have a role to play in taking care of our community, whether that's educating the next generation, making sure our trains run on time, or organizing our neighbors. I am excited to bring my skillset to the role of representing and advocating for my neighbors as an Assemblymember. I have both a deep understanding of the web of failed policies that leave our communities behind and an unwavering commitment to legislating community-owned solutions that lead to our collective liberation. From education inequities to gun violence and police brutality, I have a track record of working alongside frontline communities to secure the protections New Yorkers justly deserve.
  • We must divest from policing, mass incarceration, and other systems of harm and invest in things that keep our communities safe, like housing, healthcare, and education.
  • We need to ensure that the needs of our community are centered in the pursuit of COVID-19 recovery and long term progress.
  • We cannot rely on legislation alone. We need to think about creative approaches to social change that engage policy, grassroots organizers, small businesses, non-profits, and more.
Public Safety: Community safety means investing in youth programs, housing, and social services. I want to decrease NY's reliance on jails and prisons, as these systems disproportionately affect people of color, immigrants and low-income communities across the state. We should create new pathways for safety that reduce gun violence and do not rely on putting young people in cages.

Healthcare: The COVID-19 crisis shows that many of us lack access to quality healthcare. I support the New York Health Act to insure ALL New Yorkers and will fight against cuts to Medicare and Medicaid. Our approach to helathcare must be holistic, which is why I'm committed to protecting access to reproductive & maternal healthcare and improving safety and access to senior healthcare.

Economy: New Yorkers are experiencing housing insecurity and high unemployment, while local businesses do not have access to emergency loans. I will drive resources to Bed-Stuy & Crown Heights to create food, housing, and job security. I will approach these policy interventions with a reparations framework that invests in Black and Brown communities.
