Two seats on the Klein Independent School District Board of Trustees were up for general election on November 4, 2014 for Positions 1 and 2. Position 1 incumbent Georgan Reitmeier won re-election without opposition. Incumbent Steven E. Smith defeated challenger Lannie Milon Jr. to retain the Position 2 seat.

Klein Independent School District is located in Harris County, Texas. The county seat of Harris County is Houston. Harris County was home to 4,092,459 residents in 2014, according to the United States Census Bureau.[1] In the 2011-2012 school year, Klein Independent School District was the 20th-largest school district in Texas and served 46,002 students.[2]
Demographics
Harris County overperformed in comparison to the rest of Texas in terms of higher education achievement in 2012. The United States Census Bureau found that 28.1 percent of Harris County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 26.3 percent for Texas as a whole. The median household income in Harris County was $53,160 compared to $51,563 for the state of Texas. The poverty rate in Harris County was 17.9 percent compared to 17.4 percent for the entire state.[1]

Voter and candidate information
The Klein ISD Board of Trustees consists of seven members elected to three-year terms and serve the district at-large. There

held on November 4, 2014. Two seats

up for election in 2014.[4]
Candidates began filing nominating petitions on July 19, 2014. The filing deadline for school board candidates to get on the ballot in the general election was August 18, 2014.[5]

This election shared the ballot with general elections for U.S. House seats, Texas state executive offices and one seat in the U.S. House Senate. It also shared the ballot with other county and municipal elections. There was one statewide measure on the ballot regarding the diversion of oil and gasoline tax revenues from the state's "Rainy Day Fund" into transportation funding.[5]
