Laura G. Douglas
Laura G. Douglas is a justice of the Bronx County Supreme Court, Civil Term in the 12th Judicial District of New York. She was elected to this position in 2000.[1][2] She was re-elected in 2013.[3]
2013 election
Douglas ran for re-election to the Supreme Court 12th Judicial District. General: She was elected in the general election on November 5, 2013, with 24.9 percent of the vote. Kevin P. Kuehner, Julia I. Rodriguez, Norma Ruiz, Larry S. Schachner, Robert D. Siano and John H. Wilson were also on the ballot, competing for three open seats.[3][4][5][6]
Education
Douglas received her B.A. degree from Hobart and William Smith College in 1979 and her J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1982.[1]
Career
Douglas began her career in 1982 as a law clerk for Communications Workers of America. In 1985, she became a staff attorney for Bronx Legal Services. She then worked as a New York law assistant in the Trial Part (1988-1990) an associate law assistant and then principal court attorney to an Acting Justice (1990), a senior court attorney in the Trial Part (1990-1991), and a principal law clerk (1993-1997).
Douglas was elected to the New York City Civil Court, Bronx County in 1991. She worked in this position until 2000 and was an Acting Supreme Court Justice in 1998. She was elected to the Supreme Court in 2000.[1][2]
