I graduated with honors from school district 11. I participated in a variety of academic and extracurricular activities. While a student in the district, I was an award winning mathlete, won my school spelling bee and continued to the regional bee, won the regional science fair, lettered in track, played for my high school jazz band, was a peer counselor, and won awards as a pianist.

I explored the east coast and west coast, the nonprofit, mental health, and advocacy worlds. In for-profit companies I worked as a production assistant in New York City as well as an accountant and data analyst in the technology world in Northern California.

I believe in public education and brought my children back to school district 11 eight years ago to participate in the same public education system from which both my husband (also a district 11 graduate) and I benefitted. I like that public education offers opportunity to all students regardless of background.
  • Excellence in education: public education is important, more than a place for individuals to succeed, public schools are places where students learn valuable skills of working together and are exposed to viewpoints other than their own.
  • Accountability: I take responsibility for overseeing district spending seriously, as someone invested in student success, with respect for professional educators (my parents are retired educators of D11 and D20) and district employees, as a parent, as a community advocate and homeowner and taxpayer, as some one who is frugal, and accountable to the many community members I have come to know living over 25 years in Colorado Springs.
  • Transparency: I believe in clear communication. I am data driven and I listen. I am open to viewpoints other than my own and welcome different points of view.
District policy is the main role of the school board, in addition to overseeing the superintendent, and budget oversight. My primary concern is for student safety, student performance, teacher retention, and responsible spending.
Community engagement and local investment are key for school board members. I am a trusted community voice and I listen. I've been involved in District 11 as both a student and a parent. Additionally, I've coordinated with district educators and staff as a college administrator. I had the role of liaison and coordinator of local college volunteers, preparing, placing, and overseeing college student volunteers in the district. I have the additional experience of public and private education in other states as well as abroad. I have chosen to make Colorado Springs my home after seeing the world.
Artificial intelligence needs guardrails and is better when taught with critical thinking skills.
