I'm the first born child of two hardworking parents, growing up in the Midwest, as an 80s kid. Education was always emphasized in my household, as were reading and staying informed about current events. My Dad was an athlete, so athletics were also important. I played basketball and tennis, ran track, and was an avid bowler. I'd go on to play volleyball and basketball in rec leagues, as an adult. My Mom was a hard worker and I inherited her work ethic.

I'm a hard worker and enjoy challenges in my vocation. I'm a problem solver and a collaborator. Even so, some may be surprised to learn that I'm an introvert, although I am not shy.

What you see with me is what you get. You don't have to guess or cajole me. I answer what I'm asked. I'm loyal and trustworthy, and my friendships are sincere, and are significant to me.

  • Aurora Deserves A High Performing Government.
  • Affordable Housing Tied to Eventual Home Ownership and Wealth Building.
  • Live in Dignified Housing w/ a Path to Home Ownership; Work at a Living Wage, in Dignified Work Opportunities; and Play in Healthy and Safe Neighborhoods, with Available Open Spaces, and Access to the Arts.
Smart growth and development, a high performing and lean government, living wage and healthy and safe neighborhoods.
It may sound cliche, but the United States Air Force instilled in me the characteristics and principles most important for any elected official: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in ALL that I Do.
Perhaps this, too, is cliche. I'd like to leave the world better than I found it. I'd like for those I've worked with to feel accepted and empowered in our shared work; and for those I've worked on the behalf of, to feel heard and be motivated to serve in community.
My very first job was a paper route. I delivered papers for the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch, as soon as I turned 12-years-old. That paper route, my first "small business", was the beginning of my learning about running a business, Customer Service, accounts payable and accounts receivable, and interfacing with a Supplier. It truly was the perfect first job. Once I turned 14, I started working part time at McDonalds. Immediately following High School, I joined the United States Air Force, serving just under six years before transitioning to the Defense Industry. After 20+ years in Defense, I started my own Management Consulting Business, in December 2010.
Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follett. Pillars was an Oprah Book Club selection and she had Ken Follett on the show. He lit up when he described the book. And it was a completely different genre than he was known for. It was a summer read for me. It was one of few books that I was said to finish reading. And it is one of few books that I would read again.
Aurora Municipal Code 3-9 informs City Council of their Municipal Powers. We currently have a City Council that rarely executes its powers to the benefit of the City and all who Live, Work and Play in Aurora. Further, this City Council must vote - and pass by a super majority - to execute its powers. It is imperative that our Constituents know and understand that any grievance they bring to this body CAN be acted upon, per Aurora Municipal Code 3-9.
A well rounded background is best. I'd argue that it is beneficial for holders of this office to have business experience, to include small business, if possible. Private sector experience will inform the skills necessary to work in government and/or politics. Government has a tendency to be stridend in its day-to-day function, doing more than it was created to do, as a support and enable function.
It is imperative that an At Large Council Member have leadership skills, a vision for the City, be able to convene stakeholders with disparate viewpoints, then align them behind a common vision. Personal integrity and a character above reproach are essential. This office holder must be able to grasp systemic solutions and be approachable. He or she must be knowledgeable about the history and budget of the City, and be able to caucus in order to strike a balance between data driven decision making and constituent-centered governance. Aurora has three multi-billion dollar industries, so an understanding of supporting and enabling business growth is critical.
