Maria Baier
Maria Baier was an Arizona Commissioner of Lands. She was appointed to the position in June 2009 by Governor Jan Brewer and served until her resignation in November 2012.[1][2] She was succeeded by Vanessa Hickman.
Biography
Before becoming commissioner, Baier served on the Phoenix City Council. She was also "President of MBC, Inc., a sustainability consulting firm specializing in sustainable land use and natural resource management practice, President and CEO of Valley Partnership, and Director of the Trust for Public Land Arizona Field Office."[1]

Political career
Commissioner of Lands (2009-2012)
Baier was appointed to the position in June 2009 by Governor Jan Brewer.[1] She served until she resigned in November 2012.[3]
Executive Staff of the Office of Governor
Baier spent 10 years on the Executive Staff of the Office of the Governor, serving two administrations.[1] She served as senior policy advisor in the areas of natural resources, growth and development, environmental quality and criminal justice.
Deputy Director of Communications of the Office of Governor
She also has a background in communications, having served as deputy director of communications and lead speechwriter while with the Arizona Governor's Office.[1]
Public Information Officer for Attorney General
Baier also served as the public information officer for the Arizona Attorney General's Office.[1]
