Kur ran for election to the 33rd Circuit Court.
Primary: She was successful in the primary on August 5, 2014, receiving 24.3 percent of the vote. She competed against Edward F. Engstrom, Roy C. Hayes III, Tom Schraw, and Valerie K. Snyder.
General: She was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 41.1 percent of the vote. She competed against Roy C. Hayes III.

Kur received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and her J.D. degree from the University of Detroit School of Law.[3]
