Roy C. Hayes III is the judge for the 33rd Circuit Court in Michigan. He was elected to the court on November 4, 2014, for a six-year term commencing on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2020.[1] [2]

Hayes III ran for election to the 33rd Circuit Court.
Primary: He was successful in the primary on August 5, 2014, receiving 35.5 percent of the vote. He competed against Edward F. Engstrom, Mary Beth Kur, Tom Schraw, and Valerie K. Snyder.
General: He defeated Mary Beth Kur in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 58.9 percent of the vote. [1][3] 

Education

Hayes received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1990 and his J.D. degree from the Washington & Lee University Law School in 1993.[4]

Career

Before his election to the 33rd Circuit Court, Hayes was an attorney and the owner of The Hayes Law Firm in Charlevoix, Michigan. He also previously served as a public administrator for Charlevoix County. He began his legal career as a law clerk to former Missouri Supreme Court Justice William Ray Price in 1994. He then practiced law in a partnership with his father until 2000.[4]
