Mary L. Palmer
Mary Palmer ran for the District 5 seat on the Atlanta Public Schools Board of Education in a general election on November 5, 2013. She lost to Steven Lee in a runoff election on December 3, 2013.
Biography
Palmer has a B.S. in Computer Science from Jackson State University and an Exec M.S. in Management of Technology from Georgia Tech. She has worked in IT for Coca-cola, IBM and Siemens. She has couched hundreds of students throught Play It Smart, is a founding member of Professional Parent Liaison & Parent Educator, a member of the State Board of Ed Parent Advisory Council, an officer in the Atlanta Council of PTAs, a chair of NPU Education and Transportation, an organizing member of Step Up for Public Schools and an School Board Rep for Mays Cluster and Community Parent Group. Palmer is also active member of Antioch Baptist Church and a mother of three.[1]

Funding
Palmer reported $20,585.57 in contributions and $11,784.11 in expenditures to the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission , which left her campaign with $8,801.46 on hand.[2]

Palmer received endorsements from The Network for Public Education and The American Federation of Teachers Union.[3][4]
