Reuben McDaniel
Reuben McDaniel formerly held the at-large seat 8 on the Atlanta Public Schools Board of Education. He lost re-election to the chamber in a runoff election on December 3, 2013.
Biography
McDaniel earned a B.A. in economics and math from the University of North Carolina - Charlotte in 1984 and the Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas in 1988. In May 1999, he was named President/CEO of Atlanta based banking firm Jackson Securities, LLC. McDaniel is active throughout the community. He is the treasurer of Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education (GPEE), the treasurer of Atlanta Education Fund (ATLEF), a board member of the Southern Education Foundation, Inc. (SEF), a board member of the W.E.B. Du Bois Society, an executive board member and area chairman of the Atlanta Area Boy Scouts of America, a board of trustees member of the True Colors Theatre Company, a board member of Good Government Atlanta, a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, past president of Morris Brandon School Councils, committee member of Morris Brandon Watchdog Dad and a board member of Maynard Jackson Youth Foundation.

McDaniel ran for the at-large seat 8 against Dave Walker, Cynthia Briscoe Brown, Tom Tidwell and Mark Riley on November 5, 2013. He faced Cynthia Briscoe Brown in a runoff election on December 3, 2013.

Funding
McDaniel reported $73,264.00 in contributions and $62,821.43 in expenditures to the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission , which left his campaign with $10,442.57 on hand.[1]
Endorsements
McDaniel received endorsements from Mayor Kasim Reed, the American Federation of Teachers, the AFSCME and the Atlanta Federation of Teachers.[2][3]
