Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Grier's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Education: It is time for our educational system to be changed. For too long the federal government has been in control of the way our states educate our children. It is time for the states to regain control of the educational system and allow parents and educators more of a voice in how our children are taught.
  • Defense: Though we greatly appreciate the sacrifice that our military and their families make every day, there is so much that our country needs to do to make our system of defense better and more cost effective. We need a strong Defense Department in our country and around the world, but we need to update our systems and supplies, without draining our nation’s pockets.
  • Term Limits: 'Politicians and diapers must be changed often, and for the same reason.' - Mark Twain

Mark Twain said it right. It is time that we put term limits on our elected officials. The Senate and the House should have term limits, so that no one person spends too many years in the office. We need new ideas flowing and not have people elected because they are the name people know.

  • Second Amendment: For many years, people in our country carried guns for thier own protection. Guns are not our problem. The problem lies with people beleiving that shooting someone is the answer to a dispute or people not being taught what guns are for. We need to look at the issue that brought about the rampage of people using guns to find the answer to gun violence.
  • Budget: We cannot keep spending money that we do not have. As has been said many times, 'If a family ran thier household budget like the United States ran the national budget, they would be homeless in no time at all.' We need a balanced budget. So many politicians talk about a balanced budget, but who really knows what they are talking about. What we need is to learn to spend only what we make and no more.[3][4]
