A primary election is an election in which registered voters select a candidate that they believe should be a political party's candidate for elected office to run in the general election. They are also used to choose convention delegates and party leaders. Primaries are state-level and local-level elections that take place prior to a general election. Missouri utilizes an open primary system, in which registered voters do not have to be members of a party to vote in that party's primary.[1]

Party: Republican Party
Incumbent: No
Submitted Biography: "I was raised in the small town of Linneus, Missouri and later, in Leeʼs Summit, Missouri. After high school, I was awarded a scholarship to Washington University in St. Louis where he majored in political science and economics, and also studied Mandarin. After completing my undergraduate education, I completed my J.D. at St. Louis University School of Law in 2010. I built a successful career as a university professor and as a global business executive and senior university education administrator. My ambition has always been rooted in helping others. As I rose through the ranks of leadership, I became even more determined to use my influence abroad to help give others opportunities. I saw how communism put a stranglehold on individuality and discouraged recognition of talent. I became certain that expanding education with western values was the only way to enable personal advancement and provide people with knowledge of the promises of a better future. This made me stringently opposed to communism and strongly mistrusting of the governments of socialist countries. I aspire to public service because I believe I have a new vision to lead the 5th Missouri Congressional District. I plan to bring home resources to Missouri communities for cutting-edge infrastructural projects, to restore support for rural hospitals and relief to farmers, build education institutions that attract America's best talent, and create new wealth through the expansion of home ownership."
