Noni Session
Noni Session was a candidate for District 3 of the Oakland City Council in California. She was defeated in the general election on November 8, 2016.
Although city council elections in Oakland are officially nonpartisan, Session is known to be a member of the Democratic Party.[1]
Biography
Session obtained a B.A. in cultural anthropology and black studies from San Francisco State University and an M.A. in anthropology from Cornell University.[2]
Her professional experience includes work as an assistant librarian. She is also the treasurer and one of the founding organizers of State of Black Oakland, which aims to identify ways to improve life for members of Oakland's black community.[3][4][5]

The city of Oakland, California, held elections for city council in 2016. Five of the eight city council seats were up for election. Incumbent Lynette Gibson McElhaney defeated Noni Session in the general election for the District 3 seat on the Oakland City Council.[8]
