Orlando F. Hudson (Democratic Party) was a judge for Judicial District 14A of the North Carolina 1st Superior Court Division. He assumed office in 1989. He left office on December 31, 2022.

Hudson (Democratic Party) ran for re-election for the Judicial District 14A judge of the North Carolina 1st Superior Court Division. He won in the general election on November 3, 2020.

The North Carolina Superior Courts are split into five divisions and 48 districts. Superior court judges rotate among the districts within their division every six months.[1] However, superior court judges are elected by voters in their district and must reside in the district in which they are elected.[2]

Education

Judge Hudson received his J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.[3]

Career

In 1989 he became a superior court judge serving until 1995 when he became the 14th Judicial District's senior resident judge. Prior to serving on the Superior Court bench, Judge Hudson served as a district court judge for five years, an Assistant District Attorney in Durham, an Assistant Public Defender in Fayetteville, and practiced law for two years with a private firm.[3]

Democratic primary election

The Democratic primary election was canceled. Incumbent Orlando F. Hudson advanced from the Democratic primary for North Carolina 1st Superior Court Division Judicial District 14A.

2012

Hudson was re-elected to the Superior Court in the general election on Nov. 6, 2012, defeating Jim Dornfried with 69.8% of the vote.[4][5]
