Richard L. Broch, Jr. is a circuit judge on the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court. He was appointed to this position by the Illinois Supreme Court, effective June 16, 2014, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Michael G. Carroll. Prior to being appointed a circuit judge, he had been appointed by the judges of the 6th Circuit on November 26, 2012, as an associate judge.[1][2] He was elected to a full term on the court in 2014, effective December 1.[3]

Broch ran for election to the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court.
Primary: He was successful in the Republican primary on March 18, 2014, receiving 58.4 percent of the vote. He competed against Lorna K. Geiler.
General: He was unopposed in the general election on November 4, 2014. [3][4][5] 

Evaluations

The Illinois State Bar Association and participating attorneys rated Richard L. Broch, Jr. as Recommended for election in a 2014 poll.[6]

Education

Broch received his undergraduate degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1978 and his J.D. degree from Oklahoma City University in 1981.[1]

Career

Broch ran a solo law practice in Tuscola, Illinois prior to becoming an associate judge in 2012.[1]
