What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
..To research and support issues related to Soil and Water Conservation issues. ..To strengthen Conservation education to our Duval youth. ..To listen to concerns and work with various Duval county community organizations of Duval community regarding potential flooding and other related damage to people, property, animals and crops.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am very concerned about the impact on our environment from poor management of pestisides, fuel, etc. that will have negative lasting effect on our community, count
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
I look up to all those brave people who have the strength to stand up for care for the environment as well as for others in regard to the need for all to have health care, work that pays a needed wage, and respect no matter what are their skin color, culture, religion, or orientations.
Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?
National Geographic, Smithsonian and other related journal and organizations that investigate and publish materials on Conservation, various cultures, numerous plant and animals etc. bring us close to connecting with others who care about the care of the people, animals, Soil, and Water of our wonderful planet!!
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
..Be involved in supporting issues and people who are "other centered" in their involvement in our community...This IS MOST IMPORTANT. It also insists that we listen to the needs of all human, earth and environment, and all living creatures.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
My allied health and educational and community involvement and leadership, and my care for our environment and others are the basis of what I do in life and this Soil and Water position I am running for on the Duval Ballot.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
Again, I believe it is most important to have "other centered" leadership oriented individuals interested in the value of Conservation and a healthy environment to be in these positions.
What legacy would you like to leave?
That I explored and supported what was needed to have a healthy soil and Water environment for our Duval community and all its inhabitants!
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
Visiting the US forests and lands with my parents from when I was 4 years old and into high school and early college!
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
Working in my Dad's metal, wood, and special sign's shop with earth's natural elements to make products for all to enjoy.
What happened on your most awkward date?
I forgot my daye's Name when I introduced her to my Mother!!!
What is your favorite holiday? Why?
Christmas!...I enjoy and very much appreciate both the religious birth of Christ, and the joy I see in others and children during this joyous time.
What is your favorite book? Why?
I really enjoy the novels written by Clive Cussler that include the sea and the mystery books written by Baldacci!...The "good guys" helping others in these not so bloody books always win!!!
If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?
Cussler's Dirk Pitt character!
What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?
How my wife Pat has dressed our home with both historical items as well as beautiful and comfortable furnishings..Thank you (and love you) Pat!!!!
What was the last song that got stuck in your head?
"i'm a soul man"
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
How some individuals accept what a politician states even though it is entirely false!!!!
Are there any little-known powers or responsibilities held by this office that you believe more people should be aware of?
It is focused on Conservation which some don't believe is that important, but if we don't pursue these issues impacting our environment, will impact our community and earth now and even more so our future relatives and neighbors!!!
What kind of skills or expertise do you believe would be the most helpful for the holders of this office to possess?
Again a true caring about Conservation issues and others (who is everyone and all living entities) who are impacted by our care or lack of it for soil and water issues!!!
What qualities does this office possess that makes it a unique and important part of the local government?
It is focused on the Conservation of our land and water!!!!
Do you believe that it’s beneficial for holders of this office to have previous experience in government or politics?
I think if they had previous administrative experience in education, the government, or community organizations it would be very helpful!!!!
