I am a mom of a high school student in the Paradise Valley Unified School district running for Governing board to: 1) increase academic performance 2) remove politics from the classroom and 3) restore parental rights. I am a woman of God, a wife, a mother, and a business professional. I have volunteered in the PV district since 2015 and have been active in PTO, was a room parent, school event photographer & videographer, chaperone, and a prayer leader for kids and teachers in PV schools. I am pro-student, pro-teacher, and pro-parent and believe educators and parents must partner to help the student reach their academic goals. I will not tolerate the hyper-sexualization of our children in schools because adults must protect and educate children, not sexualize, or indoctrinate them. I have spent over 30 years defending those who normally don’t have a voice as a foster parent, church volunteer, animal rescuer, and Phoenix Dream Center mentor. I strive to protect the vulnerable as well as our liberties and freedoms. I held management positions at Honeywell, Perot Systems, and Alta Vista Veterinary Hospital before retiring to focus on family and community service. I have a BBA in Business Computer Systems from New Mexico State University and have taken many graduate courses in science and information technology at Arizona State University. I also studied veterinary medicine at University of California Davis.
  • Increase Academic Performance: Arizona ranks among the lowest states in terms of performance and PVUSD students are testing well below grade level in Math, ELA and Science. I want to put the focus back on academics and put dollars directly into the classrooms to support our students and teachers including increasing teacher salaries in our district. I intend to address declining test scores and enrollment by focusing on academics that will help students build essential skills in written and oral communication, quantitative reasoning, science, technology, the arts and add classes that will prepare PV students for the college, career, or vocational path they may choose after graduation.
  • Remove Politics from the Classroom: My goal is for our district to strengthen PV students in the basics of reading, writing, and math and keep divisive ideologies and political propaganda out of the classrooms. Politically charged, academically discredited materials such as the New York times 1619 project that teach anti-American values have no place in our classrooms. I want to ensure that our PVUSD schools choose curriculum that is based on quality education for our children and that we reject publishers who push ideologies that teach through the lens of race, sexually, or social justice.
  • Restore Parent's Rights: As a parent, I understand that we must be allowed to direct the upbringing, education, health care and mental health of our own children without government interference. For a child to be successful in school, parents and educators must partner together. Parents cannot be left on the outside looking in when it comes to educating their children. As a governing board member, I will ensure that parents have a strong voice in the future of PVUSD schools.
I am passionate about curriculum transparency. The success of a student depends not only on qualified teachers, but also the content and quality of school curriculum. Transparency builds trust in the community. Our education tax dollars should be invested wisely on the future of our youth. Parents and PVUSD community members have the right to know what investments are being made using our tax dollars.
I am a prayer warrior and have high integrity. As a business professional, I have manged large teams of people and had to manage budgets.
I have spent over 30 years defending those who normally don’t have a voice. Whether as a foster parent, room parent, church volunteer, animal rescuer, Phoenix Dream Center mentor, or local Precinct Committeeman, I strive for excellence and work tirelessly to protect the vulnerable as well as our liberties and freedoms.
- Decisions for improving education and putting our students first

- Hiring the district superintendent
- Developing the budget
- Approving the budget
- Setting salaries for employees
- Approving purchases and school activities like field trips
- Approving curriculum materials
- Closing and constructing schools

- Supporting our schools by attending ceremonial functions and celebrating special events
My first job was stalking shelves, taking inventory of merchandise, and running the cash register in my father's grocery store. I worked for him for about 12 years from the age of 10 until my early 20s. He never let us sit idly by and instilled a strong work ethic in all his children. He even made us count back change the "proper" way and refused to let us use the "change" button on the cash register so that we learned to count money the old fashion (and correct) way.

The primary role of a school board member is to carry out the will of the people of the district in the matter of public education based on the Arizona Constitutions, Arizona Revised Statutes and the regulations of the Arizona Administrative Code.

In my view it is to represent all stakeholders by making important decisions for our schools and the surrounding community which may include:
- Decisions for improving education and putting our students first
- Hiring the district superintendent
- Developing the budget
- Approving the budget
- Setting salaries for employees
- Approving purchases
- Approving curriculum materials
- Closing and constructing schools

- Supporting our schools by attending ceremonial functions and celebrating special events
All stakeholders including students, parents, educators, the superintendent, and members of the PVUSD community.
Students: I will put the focus back on academics and put dollars directly into the classrooms to support our students. I will also look improve curricula that will help students build essential skills in written and oral communication, quantitative reasoning, science, and technology. The ability to participate in sports, the arts, campus clubs and to select from a wide variety of classes will prepare our students for whatever career or vocational path they may choose after graduation.

Faculty: The faculty at PVUSD, around our state and this nation have been challenged and stretched thin over the past few years. I will look to recruit and retain quality teachers and increase teacher salaries. I will also work with the PTOs and groups like the United Parent Council to develop programs that support the needs of teachers. While teacher appreciate weeks are wonderful, I would like to do more to ensure they have the tools and supplies needed to teach their students to limit out of pocket expenditures. I would like to conduct round table discussions with teachers in our district to hear from them directly.

Community: I believe that parents, educators, and governing board members should be partners in the success of our students by providing tools to enable them to achieve educational success and be well-rounded. I want to ensure that all voices are heard in the district, not just the people on committees.

In addition to listening to parents, we need to hear the voices of community members that may not have kids in the district. We must be prudent with their tax dollars when investing in our schools.
I have a business background and I would like to see our local businesses become more involved in the success of our schools. The United Parent Council has a vendor showcase each year, I would like to expand that out to other businesses around our district not just vendors.
I believe we should hire the best and brightest educators, period. I am a Latina and first-generation college graduate. I worked hard to make a name for myself in business and did not need a diversity, equity, or inclusion office to help me be successful. People should be hired based on their qualifications not their ethnicity or gender. We have laws in this state and our country to protect all citizens giving them equal opportunities under the law. Equity hiring practices are not what we need in a massive staffing shortage.
It seems as if we are putting too much focus on programs that do not involve academics. We must put the focus back on academics in order for our students to achieve high levels of success.
We need to have a School Resource Officer in every school.
I would support a parent’s right to make healthcare decisions for their child. If an educator or student is sick, they should stay home. Parents / families should have a choice on therapies or masking. It is not the job of the schools to be a police state for people who are sick.
Parents are being shut out of committees and the same individuals are being chosen for committees and leadership positions in PTOs and the United Parent Council over and over again. I want to see involvement from parents of all backgrounds and in all areas of our district.

I would like to bring town hall meetings directly to our community instead of having them come to governing board meetings. Once per month, we can pick a different school to let the community speak instead of giving them 3 mins e twice a month with no discussion or follow up action at a governing board meeting.
