Through a balanced approach, Scott will focus on restoring transparency and accountability in government, revitalizing small business opportunity and economic freedom, and investing in public schools. He and his wife Katherine Perkins have been married for 40 years. They raised their two children in Johnson County and

Scott and Katherine continue to love the area that has offered them so much, and serving the 30th district is Scott’s next step in giving back to the community.

Scott’s impressive career includes experience as a small geospatial business owner. Scott has held two federal appointments requiring White House approval to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration-Hydrographic Services Review Panel (NOAA-HSRP) Federal Advisory Committee, and the Small Business Association Regulatory Fairness Board. As a leader in his industry, Scott has also served on the Board of Directors of the MAPPS Association, a national association for private sector geospatial firms. Scott’s service to the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Central US Region earned him an ASPRS Presidential Citation for Service.

Scott says, “I’m excited to be a candidate. I pledge to do my best to represent the interests of all residents in the 30th district in an an open, transparent, and inclusive manner. I hope I can earn your trust nd your vote
  • Providing Transparency in Our Government. Citizens and the existing local businesses having full awareness of our government’s planned actions is essential to a properly functioning democracy. I have years of experience navigating that difficult space that lies between the public’s interest and a businesses interest.
  • Creating Small Business Opportunities I am a supporter of policies that are beneficial to small business. We need procurement policy that encourages small business participation.
  • Investing in Kansas Schools and Education. Our teacher shortage problem pre-dates the COVID-19 pandemic, in November of 2018 KSN.com reported 612 vacant teaching positions. Last week KCUR reported there are now 1,400 teacher vacancies. I will support policies and actions that will assist in recruiting qualified teachers in Kansas to fill the shortage we are currently experiencing and policies and actions that will help in retaining the qualified teachers we already have in our public schools.
Bipartisan cooperation. I have held two federal advisory committee appointments requiring White House approval under both democratic and republican administrations. These include a national committee for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration-Hydrographic Services Review Panel (NOAA-HSRP) and a regional committee for the Small Business Administration (SBA) Regulatory Fairness Board for Region VII (KS-MO-IA-NE). Federal advisory committees are required by law to have a bi-partisan composition.
I will use my experience to find common ground to represent the interests of all the people in the 30th District and preserve our individual freedoms.
