December 30, 2024: Fifty-seven percent (57%) of voters say people who make lifestyle decisions that cause them to need more medical care, such as smoking, should be required to pay higher insurance premiums. A Napolitan News Service national survey conducted by RMG Research found 31% disagree.

The survey also found that 87% say it would be in the best interests of insurance companies to offer free wellness checks in order to address problems before they become more serious. Seven percent (7%) disagree.

Methodology

The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on December 17-18, 2024. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.

Scott Rasmussen is the president of RMG Research, Inc.
