June 17, 2019: Forty-eight percent (48%) of American adults now rate the economy as good or excellent. Thirty-six percent (36%) rate it as just fair while 13% say poor.[1]

The latest Job Creators Network/ScottRasmussen.com Weekly Pulse also found that 34% now believe the economy is getting better while 28% say it is getting worse.

In both cases, the numbers aren’t bad, but they suggest a slight decline in economic confidence. This is the first time since January that fewer than 50% of voters rated the economy as good or excellent. Also, the last couple of weeks have shown a growing number saying the economy is getting worse.

The modest decline in recent weeks may be just a temporary blip, or it could be the start of a lasting decline in confidence. There’s no way to tell at the moment, but the data in coming weeks will give us a hint.

Each weekday, Scott Rasmussen’s Number of the Day explores interesting and newsworthy topics at the intersection of culture, politics, and technology.
