May 13, 2025: Sixty percent (60%) of voters are more worried about the federal government deciding what information and news should be allowed than disinformation and fake news. A Napolitan News Service national survey conducted by RMG Research found 34% are more worried about disinformation and fake news.

The survey also found 56% say the federal government regularly promotes disinformation and fake news to prompt its own agenda. Eighteen percent (18%) disagree.

Methodology

The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on April 30-May 1, 2025. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
