May 5, 2025: Thirty-six percent (36%) of voters say if implemented, Trump’s tariff plan would be good for the economy. A Napolitan News Service national survey conducted by RMG Research found a majority, 52%, say President Trump’s tariff plan would be bad for the economy.

The survey also found 64% believe President Trump’s tariff plan would cause prices on consumer goods to go up. Fifteen percent (15%) say prices would go down, 6% say there would be no impact, and 15% are not sure.

Methodology

The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on April 28-29, 2025. Fieldwork for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
