November 30, 2023: Forty-seven percent (47%) of voters believe that foreign companies should not be allowed to own social media companies that operate in the United States. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that 30% of voters believe foreign companies should be allowed to own such companies.

The survey also found that 59% of voters believe that the U.S. should block social media companies based in countries that ban U.S. based social media companies.

Methodology

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points. The survey of 1,000 registered voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on November 20, 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.
