Jon R. Prince is the superintendent of St. Lucie Public Schools. Prince was appointed superintendent in July 2022. Gent's previous career experience includes working as an assistant principal, principal, and deputy superintendent, in the School District of Palm Beach County, Orange County Public School District, and St. Lucie Public School District.[1]

Past superintendents

  • E. Wayne Gent was the superintendent of St. Lucie Public Schools from July 1, 2015 until July 2022.[2] Gent's previous career experience includes working as a principal.[3]

School board

The St. Lucie Public Schools school board consists of five members elected to four-year terms. Board members are elected to specific geographical districts in at-large elections.[4]

Elections are held on a staggered basis in the November general election.[5]

Two seats on the school board were expected to be up for general election on November 5, 2024. The election was unnecessary after both races were decided in the August 20, 2024, primary. Candidates could win outright in the primary election if they were unopposed or if they received a majority of votes cast in the primary.
