Gurin and Kleinberg highlighted the following statement on their campaign website:
| “ | Hello Residents of Half Hollow Hills. As you may remember, we both ran for the Board of Education last year. We both believed then, and still believe now, that the children and their education is the top priority, that communication and openness between the board, administration and district residents is the key to a successful district, and that all community members deserve a voice. Another year has gone by and we continue to believe that we can offer the Half Hollow Hills community a superior path for the future. Therefore, we have decided to combine our efforts and join together to run for election this year. There are two seats available and we feel that with the strong support we had and hopefully still have, along with our combined ideas and experience, we are ready and able to fill those seats. We are looking forward to speaking to the members of the Half Hollow Hills community, listening to your concerns, and sharing our views that will detail how, if elected to the Board of Education, we will help lead our district through these challenging educational times. Over the next several weeks we hope we will earn your trust and your vote. Thank you.[11] | ” |

2014
Gurin's campaign website listed the following campaign themes for 2014:
| “ | An important issue in the HHH District is reuniting the community following a difficult period where fiscal realities and declining enrollment required the closure of two schools. With the closure decisions behind us, I want to help refocus the community on cultivating an environment where students and education are the number one priority. Striving for excellence in education is a must in our great district. It is important to maintain positive and effective community relations and communications, while being fiscally responsible. To achieve these goals, I will continue to maintain the strong community presence that I have demonstrated in the many leadership roles I have held since moving into the district in 2000. As PTA Council President, I have already been working intensely on the smooth transition of students and parents to their new schools in the Fall due to school closings and redistricting.
Because fiscal constraints will be with us for many years to come, I will work collaboratively with all the stakeholders to review programs and ensure that we spend wisely to reach as many students as possible and be on the forefront of new innovations and technology to foster 21st Century Learners.[11] |
