Campaign themes

2017

Seroka's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

RESTORING THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE

The Ward 2 incumbent, a career politician, has gotten entirely too cozy with the developers and big money donors. He has completely lost touch with those he was elected to represent – the people.

Steve Seroka is an independent political outsider who owes nothing to the special interests and the rich developers. Steve will fight to protect our neighborhoods, and our quality of life, above all else.

NEIGHBORHOODS FIRST
Like most of us in Ward 2, purchasing a home was the single biggest investment of his life.

Now, every homeowner in Ward 2 is in jeopardy. Our Councilman is working behind the scenes to approve a 3,000-unit apartment complex in the heart of Ward 2.

This massive complex would kill our property values, snarl our traffic and flood our already over-crowded schools with thousands of new students.

Steve Seroka’s highest priority will be protecting our neighborhoods. He spent 30 years as a true warrior, protecting and defending our Country. Now, Steve wants to be the “Neighborhood Warrior”, totally devoted to the protection of our unique quality of life.

SHINING A LIGHT ON CITY HALL
Honesty, integrity and accountability. These are the hallmarks of The Colonel’s career of service. Steve will demand the same from City Hall. It’s time to end the back-room dealing, secret lobbying and big-money influence.

Steve Seroka is the right person - at just the right time - to make certain City Government is spending OUR tax dollars responsibly and in the light of day.

PROTECTING ALL THAT WE HOLD DEAR
Steve Seroka devoted his entire adult life to protecting America and its freedoms. No one is more committed to enhanced public safety than The Colonel. As our City Councilman, Steve will fight for increased funding for more police officers to patrol our streets and neighborhoods.

We must increase our officer-to-resident ratio above the national average – more cops equals less crime, it’s just that simple. And it can be done within the current budget framework and without a need for increased taxes.[8]

—Steve Seroka's campaign website, (2017)[9]

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the following would be Seroka's priorities for the city council if elected: "Protect property values and neighborhoods, end 'big money influence' at City Hall, increase police presence in Ward 2."[10]
