Susan Rabon was a commissioner of the North Carolina Utilities Commission. She was appointed to this position in 2009. Her term expired on June 30, 2015, but she continued to serve until her successor, Lyons Gray was appointed and approved by the legislature.[1][2][3]

Rabon was born in Onslow County, North Carolina. She was raised in Danville, Virginia, where she graduated from George Washington High School, and later went on to graduate from North Carolina State University. She returned to Virginia to attend law school at the University of Virginia, graduating in 1986 with her J.D.[1]

After law school, Rabon clerked for Justice Jack L. Cozort on the North Carolina Court of Appeals. She practiced with the Wilmington, NC law firm Carr, Swails, Huffine & Crouch, and in 1993 joined the staff of the North Carolina Attorney General as special counsel. A year later, she became the Deputy Attorney General for Administration. In 2001, she joined Governor Easley's staff as Senior Assistant for Administration, where she served until her appointment to the commission.[1]

Political career

North Carolina Utilities Commission (2009-2016)

Rabon served on the North Carolina Utilities Commission from 2009-2015.[1] Rabon was first appointed to the North Carolina Utilities Commission on January 7, 2009 by then-Gov. Mike Easley. Her term expired on June 30, 2015.[1][3] She was eventually replaced by Lyons Gray, who was sworn in on January 26, 2016.
