Matthews defeated Democrat Donna Roth in the general election for the 281st District Court, winning 55.6% of the vote.[4][5]
Education
Matthews earned an undergraduate degree in mathematics from The College of Charleston, going on to receive her J.D. from the University of South Carolina in 1986.[6]
Career
Prior to her judicial appointment in 2008, Matthews was a partner at the law firm of Andrews Kurth, LLP.[6]
