Tami K. Schendt is a judge for the 8th Judicial District in Nebraska. She was appointed by Governor Dave Heineman (R) in August 2012.[1] Schendt won retention in a retention election on November 8, 2016.

Education

Schendt graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law in 1993 and later from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and Lincoln with a major in criminal justice and minor in speech communication.[2]

Career

Before her appointment to the 8th District Schendt worked as a Custer County attorney. She also worked in Broken Bow as the deputy county attorney.[2]

Nebraska held retention elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run for retention was August 1, 2016.[3] Tami K. Schendt was retained in the 8th County Court Judicial District, Nebraska election with 70.92 percent of the vote. [4]

Judges of the Nebraska County Courts are each appointed to six-year terms.[5] Judges are re-elected in retention elections. To serve on this court, a judge must be a U.S. citizen, a district resident, 30 years of age or older, and a member of the state bar. They must also have five years of experience in state practice.[6]
