This week's Federal Vacancy Count includes nominations, confirmations and vacancies from January 7, 2014, to January 13, 2015. Nominations, confirmations and vacancies occurring on January 14th will be reflected in the January 21st report.

Jennifer May-Parker

After 545 days of awaiting confirmation, Jennifer May-Parker's nomination process came to an end on January 8, 2015, as President Barack Obama chose not to re-nominate her with a group of 11 other nominees.[1] Parker's nomination was twice held up by Senator Richard Burr who chose not to submit his blue slip, which allows a nominee's process to continue through the Senate Judiciary Committee, in both 2013 and 2014.[2][3] The United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina has one vacancy and the warning level remains at yellow.
