Mary Landrieu
Hillary Clinton
On December 1, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hosted a fundraiser for Landrieu in New York. Tickets ranged from $1,000 to $12,600, according to The Times-Picayune.[3]
During a rally before the primary election, Clinton praised Landrieu's efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She said, "She was relentless. You learn a lot about a person and a leader in a moment like that. And I saw Mary in action, no cameras, no attention, just focused like a laser to take care of her people. She never gave up. If you know anything about Mary Landrieu, you know that is an ingrained characteristic, she doesn't shy away from a fight."[8]
Bill Cassidy
Rand Paul
After the primary election, Sen. Rand Paul headlined a rally for Cassidy.[9]
During the rally Paul said, “I met Bill Cassidy and I liked him also. He’s a doctor. He’s also I believe believes strongly personally that we are our brother’s keeper, that we have a responsibility to our fellow man. I read about him starting a community center in Baton Rouge to take care of the poor. I read about him starting a vaccine program that vaccinated 36,000 kids. I read about how after Katrina how he opened a medical clinic in an abandoned K-Mart. You all remember what it was like. I’m sure many people in the room helped people. Even all the way up in North Carolina, I have a friend from medical school who had a family from New Orleans for a year in their house. I think the underreported story, though, of healthcare or Katrina or what have you—the underreported story of our country is how gracious and humanitarian we are and how noble the things are that we do."[9]
Rick Perry
On November 25, Gov. Rick Perry campaigned with Cassidy in South Louisiana.[10]
Rick Perry released the following statement endorsing Cassidy: "Even with President Obama in office, we've enjoyed success in Texas because we are committed to the kinds of free-market, conservative ideals that result in job creation and economic growth. Dr. Cassidy believes in those same ideals, and in the U.S. Senate he will promote policies to help grow Louisiana's energy economy and create good-paying jobs. And he will keep up the fight to repeal Obamacare, a law which is inflicting harm on our entire nation. I'm proud to support Dr. Cassidy and urge the people of Louisiana to do the same."[11]
Bobby Jindal
According to Jason Dore, executive director of the Louisiana Republican Party, Gov. Bobby Jindal was "very helpful. He's been to numerous rallies."[12][4]
On November 5, Jindal released the following statement: "The bottom line is that Mary Landrieu does not represent Louisiana values. Washington is worse off today than it was 18 years ago. It’s time to try something new. That’s why I’m supporting Bill Cassidy.”[13]
Ben Carson
On November 1, Dr. Ben Carson attended a rally for Cassidy. He said, "The best candidate that we have in the state running for the U.S. Senate is Bill Cassidy. This is not to say the other Tea Party candidate is not a good man. ... There will be [another] time for him."[14]
On November 25, Vernon Robinson, the Draft Ben Carson Campaign Director, attended a rally for Cassidy.[15]
Marco Rubio
On November 22, Sen. Marco Rubio campaigned with Cassidy in South Louisiana.[16]
Rubio said the following about Cassidy: "I know of no one who’s going to be a more forceful voice on repealing and replacing Obamacare, than your next Senator Bill Cassidy. He understands health care because he’s a health care practitioner, because he knows patients, because he’s dealt with patients. He understands that they way to bring affordable health coverage to people is not to put the government in charge, it’s to put you in charge of health care.”[17]
Jeb Bush
Former Gov. Jeb Bush headlined a fundraiser for Cassidy and the National Republican Senatorial Committee on December 1. According to the Washington Examiner, tickets were $25,000 for individuals or $15,000 for PACs.[18]
Bush wrote the following in a fundraising email: "The choice for voters in clear: Mary Landrieu, a faithful rubber stamp vote for Barack Obama, or Bill Cassidy, a proven conservative with a record of service for Louisiana.”[19]
Rick Santorum
On Wednesday, Dec. 3, former Sen. Rick Santorum appeared at a campaign event with Cassidy's wife. According to Cassidy's campaign, he was unable to attend due to scheduled votes in Washington D.C.[7]
