Anseman filed to run in 2017 for the seat on the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal vacated by James Genovese.[1] She was set to face Susan Theall and Candyce Perret on March 25, 2017. A judge ruled her ineligible to stand in the election on March 13, 2017, but she won her appeal and was placed back on the ballot.[3] The trial court said that she has not practiced law for ten years, as required by Louisiana law. She appealed the ruling and won the appeal; the state supreme court made an adjustment in her bar status that increased her time of eligibility to practice law over the required ten-year threshold.[4]
Anseman was defeated by Theall and Perret in the March 25 primary election.
